DNQ at Street Machines
A bad choice of tires, and too greedy of a tune up resulted in not qualifying for one of the biggest races of the 2016 season in our area, Ozark Raceway Park’s Street Machines race. We qualified 10th out of 12 cars, and didn’t make the 8 car field. It pretty much sucked as we were tied for the points championship at this track after winning 2 of the 3 previous races.
Friday night’s qualifying got rained out, which killed our chances at qualifying after the sun set, and Saturday’s daytime qualifying did not go well, we spun multiple times on both passes and couldn’t manage better than a 5.77. Most of the cars that did qualify better were running Pro Bracket Radials, and we came with the Nova’s favorite M/T 275 Pro’s, which are not hot slimy track friendly at all.
We did at least get to test a few things and get a bit of data, and got to hang out with our friends so we still had a great time. As my buddy Don says “Anytime you can load the car under it’s own power, it’s a great day at the races!” which is so true.
Our next race is the Fall Nationals at Kansas International Dragway, hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck at that one.
